MEET ANGELA
Award Winning Artist, Author, Instructor:
I am a lifelong artist who paints with watercolors and acrylics and has a penchant for experimentation. I like to blend traditional fine art techniques with innovative modern methods for mark-making and applying color and texture. I live and work in the Pacific Northwest where I also teach. I find inspiration in nature and the beauty that is around me in the big things and the small things. I like sharing my inspirations, techniques, and art journey.

The Art of Woven Paintings
Below are some samples of woven art paintings. Weaving paintings together or weaving paintings and painted papers are a novel way to create something entirely new. If you would like to learn how to give new life to old and/or unfinished paintings, or build a new narrative in an existing painting by weaving elements of other paintings and papers into them, sign up for the SWWS Fall Workshop, September 10, 11 & 12, where I will provide an overview of methods including tight and loose weaves; full and partial weaves; and regular, irregular, and novel weaves. In the workshop, there will be a step-by-step demonstration on the basics of planning, cutting, weaving, and securing. This is an interactive workshop where you will create you own woven artwork based on the materials you bring. I will share thoughts on the best strategies to use based on your artwork and you will get help and individual consultations along the way. We’ll share our work at the end. You will find the process of weaving paintings mentally stimulating and completely addictive.
