"I began painting seriously at age fifteen, growing up in a home where both of my parents were artists—my father a devoted watercolor purist—so art has always been an essential part of my life.
I enjoy working in a wide range of mediums, including charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, oils, and alcohol inks. I love “breaking the rules” and have learned how to rescue paintings that aren’t quite coming together.
For three years, I taught acrylic-based “Paint & Sip” classes for tourists in New Orleans. Currently, I’m commissioned by Chewy, the pet food and supplies company, to create animal portraits, primarily of dogs and cats. Although I work with many subjects, portraits of people remain my favorite.
In this workshop, we’ll focus on painting expressive eyes—both human and animal. We’ll work in watercolor, and acrylic will also be available for those who wish to use it.
After practicing animal eyes, we’ll move on to creating a full portrait of the animal or animals you choose. I hope you’ll join us for this two-day exploration of eyes and the creatures they belong to. "
