About The Event

THE “WHAT”, “WHY”, AND “HOW” OF PAINTING BACKGROUNDS IN

WATERCOLOR

On January 14 Diana Thewlis will be leading an AHA paint-along on the subject of painting backgrounds. The AHA will be held from 1:00 to 3:00ish at the Frost Art Center on Fort Vancouver Way, Clark College Campus, in room #103.

Diana will be providing attendees with a handout that answers some of the questions about decision-making, color choices, types of backgrounds, and why you’d choose them. Some of this will be discussed during the

demonstration.

This will be a paint-along demonstration. If you plan on attending, you can transfer the accompanying sketch of blossoms to your watercolor paper before coming to the AHA.  Diana will be demonstrating on Arches 140lb. cold press paper, using a limited palette. Feel free to bring whatever paper, paints, brushes, and other tools and materials you normally use, including materials that affect the paint, such as salt and plastic wrap. Bring a hair dryer and extension

cord if you have one.
